Daniel James Brown Book Signing Sept. 6 noon-4pm

They were 9 working class boys from the Pacific Northwest who won an impossible victory – not just for Washington State – but for the entire free world.

Bestselling novel (soon to be movie) Boys in the Boat tells the story of the ragtag UW crew that wrested Olympic gold from Hitler’s iron fist – and the Pocock cedar shells that carried them across the finish line.

On Saturday September 6th, 12-4pm, author Daniel James Brown will be signing books at the boathouse of Rat Island Rowing and Sculling Club in the Northwest Maritime Center, home of Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival (Sept 5-7).

The “Rats” are the only club on a mission to rescue, restore and race Pocock’s wafer-thin varnished cedar shells. Come watch them knife through the water, blades flashing in spellbinding precision – just like they did in 1936.

The race is Saturday September 6th at 10am.

The book signing will follow, from noon to 4pm in the boathouse at the end of Water Street where it meets Point Hudson.

431 Water St, Port Townsend, WA
